Validation a thermo-chemical conversion model for solids
Abstract
Objectives:
- Model validation based on experimental data
- Sensitivity analysis of the model
Results:
- Quantitative and qualitative comparison of simulation results with the corresponding experimental data
- Identification of the relevant parameters which influence the simulation results
Description:
CFD simulations can help to understand industrial processes better or to design processes. Our research group works on the simulation of the raceway zone in the blast furnace, in cooperation with K1-Met GmbH. The over all aim of this research work is a digital twin of the blast furnace.
The thermo-chemical conversion of solids like coke or coal in blast furnaces is essential for providing the required heat of melting and reducing agents. Blast furnace models need to correctly reproduce this thermo-chemical conversion in order to give reliable results. In this work, a detailed validation of the blast furnace model has to be done based on experimental data from literature to improve the quality of the existing model. In a second step, sensitivity analysis off the simulation results shall be done for selected parameters.
